We are officially a charity! But the clock is ticking to save our venue.
The Big News 🏆
We achieved two massive milestones this month! First, Newbridge Community Hub is officially a registered charity. This status lets us claim Gift Aid. This is vitally important as it instantly boosts future donations by 25%. Second, your incredible generosity has raised ÂŁ2,500 in immediate cash, with formal expressions of interest pushing our total funding pipeline to over ÂŁ25,000!
The Ticking Clock: Why We Need You Now ⏱️
While we celebrate, we are up against a strict legal deadline:
The Date:Â 26th November 2026.
The Stakes:Â This is when our Asset of Community Value (ACV) status expires. After this date, the Methodists are free to sell the building directly to commercial property developers.
The Mission:Â We have officially entered a critical period of negotiation with the Methodist Church and their agents, James Pyle. Our objective is to secure a lease with a long-term option to purchase.
Your Voice is Our Leverage 🗣️
Securing this lease will not be easy. Our single greatest asset at the negotiating table is the overwhelming, visible support of local residents. When the agents see a united, passionate community, our bargaining power skyrockets.
Show them our strength right now by joining our brand-new online community! Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to like, comment, and make our collective voice impossible to ignore.
Community Impact in Numbers 📊
250Â local people rely on this building every single week.
200-300Â neighbours packed our July 4th coffee morning.
100+Â brilliant community ideas were pinned to our windows.
20+Â active volunteers are driving this project forward.
100%Â perfect scorecard achieved with BANES council for our ACV application.
Your Cake Sale Ideas Are Locked In! 🍰
At our July 4th event, residents stuck over 100 post-it notes on our windows. These ideas haven’t disappeared into a black hole! We’ve recorded every single one to guide our vision for the future hub, focusing on:
All Generations:Â Dedicated spaces for both youth groups and older members of our community.
Hub Culture:Â A vibrant community meeting place featuring arts, crafts, learning, and education.
Wellness & Fun:Â Spaces for sports, leisure, entertainment, and room rentals.
What’s Happening Next? 🗓️
Behind the Scenes:Â A local architect has volunteered to draft internal redesigns, a structural survey is underway, and we are actively applying for capital grant funding.
Friday, 4th September: Live dance music and an art/promises auction! Tickets go on sale soon—expect fierce bidding and great music.
October:Â Community Bingo Night (details soon!).
How You Can Help Today 🤝
We can do this, but we can’t do it alone:
Donate:Â Build our financial muscle for the lease negotiations.
